Just Keep Swimming

I was watching a movie with my daughter the other day, one that we've seen countless times, but this time a phrase stuck out at me in a profound way. Whether you're stuck in a writer's block or feeling discouraged, I want to remind you of Dory's famous phrase from Finding Nemo: "just keep swimming." I know, I know, you might be thinking, "what does swimming have to do with writing?" Well, let's break it down. When Dory says, "just keep swimming," she's encouraging Nemo's father to continue on his journey to find his son despite the challenges he may face along the way. Similarly, as writers, we must continue to push forward, even when we encounter obstacles. Writing can be a daunting task, especially when you're faced with the dreaded blank page. It's easy to get discouraged when the words don't seem to flow or when you receive rejection after rejection from publishers. But remember, writing is a process, and like any process, it takes time and effort to perfect. So, what can we learn from Dory's advice? First, it's essential to keep moving forward, even if it's just one sentence or one paragraph at a time. Progress is progress, no matter how small. Second, it's crucial to maintain a positive attitude and not give up on our writing goals. As an author myself, I understand the challenges that come with the writing process. It's not easy, but it's also incredibly rewarding. Every time you write, you're improving your skills and getting one step closer to achieving your goals. Let Dory's phrase "just keep swimming" serve as a reminder to keep writing, keep pushing, and keep striving towards your dreams. Don't let the challenges and setbacks discourage you; instead, use them as fuel to keep swimming towards your writing goals. -Andrew The Indie Author Method
